Yiannis Papageorgiou
Yiannis PapageorgiouYannis Papageorgiou studied law at the University of Athens. He holds postgraduate degrees in comparative politics from Paris I University and in developmental cooperation from The Free University of Brussels, from which he also received his PhD in the field of regional integration. He has worked at the University of the Aegean and has been teaching at the Aristotle University since 2004. His subject area is “International Relations, International Politics and Greek Foreign politics” and he teaches courses related to European policy and institutions, comparative politics and subjects of international relations. His research deals with issues of European political integration, refugee policy and international humanitarian and refugee law. He is a lawyer, and served as Director of the Greek Refugee Service, and in 2012 he was chairman of the working group on asylum in the Council of Ministers of the EU during the Cyprus presidency of the Council. His publications include monographs such as Democracy through Regional Integration – How Regional Integration Enhances National Democracy (2015), The administrative detention of aliens – International legislation and national practice (2015), Social Rights at European, Regional and International Level – Challenges for the 21st Century (2010), Regional Integration and Courts of Justice (2005), and articles related to regional integration and international protection, as well as subjects related to international democracy. He held a Fulbright scholarship for research in the USA (2007) and from the Folke Bernadotte Academy for research in Latin America and Africa.

Marimar De Alava
Marimar De AlavaMarimar de Alava is a Spanish teacher and interpreter living in Thessaloniki since 1998. She has been teaching Spanish as a foreign language since 1997 and working as an oral examiner for the Cervantes Institute from 2000 (DELE exams). Currently working as a teacher in the ΜΑ in Conference Interpreting and Translation of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, e she conducts the course Development of Language Skills for Spanish. At the same time, she is a native speaker of Spanish on the course Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpretation in the Master’s in Interpretation. From 2010 till 2012 she designed her own educational platform “letrasispanika” from where she teaches Spanish online. Awarded a Bachelor of Law in Zaragoza, Spain and completed postgraduate studies in Greek Criminal Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2001 she received a Diploma in Technological Advances in Translation: Vocabulary and Terminology Management from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, Spain. In 2010 she received a Diploma in New Technologies and the Teaching of Foreign Languages at the Menéndez Pelayo International University in Santander. The course was titled Diploma in Advanced Digital Environments for Learning Spanish – Teaching a Foreign Language and New Technologies. In 2011, she received a Diploma in the Design of On-Line Teacher Training Courses (Diseño de Cursos de Formación de Profesores en Línea) in the Programme on Teacher Training in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the Cervantes Institute of Spain.

Maria Akritidou
Maria AkritidouMaria Akritidou holds a postgraduate degree with a focus on Theory of Literature and Translation (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, MPhil in Modern Greek Studies and Culture). She is employed as a detached research associate at the Center for the Greek Language (with a focus on language education and digital humanities) and a postdoctoral teaching fellow at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her research interests include Modern Greek literature (with a focus on interactions between historiographical discourses and fiction), language education, and digital humanities (with a focus on digital textual editing and digital literary history). Her publications include, among others, the monograph Aspects of the past of modern Hellenism in contemporary Greek fiction: Narrative modality and historical poetics (Edition Romiosini/CEMOG, Berlin, 2019), and the translation in Greek of 3 chapters of the open access electronic textbook Digital Scholarly Editing: Theories and Practices (Kallipos, Athens 2022).

Vasileios Vasileiadis
Vasileios VasileiadisVasileios Vasileiadis holds a PhD from the School of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In his PhD thesis (2006) he studies ideological issues in the interwar Modern Greek literary criticism. Since 1998, he has been working as a researcher in the Centre for the Greek Language, Department of Language and Literature. He has participated in national and international conferences and has published articles on Modern Greek criticism, prose writing and poetry in scientific and educational journals, and miscellaneous volumes. He is the editor of the following books: Selected short stories by Nikos Nikolaidis the Cypriot, Armida Publ., Nicosia 2011; Modern Greek Literature translated into Other European Languages, CGL, Thessaloniki 2012, and the co-editor in two volumes: Anthology of Modern Greek Literature for the students of the Istanbul Greek Minority High Schools, OEDB, Athens 2008 (in cooperation with T. Kagialis and M. Souliotis); A Guide on Reading Literature, CGL, Thessaloniki 2015 (in cooperation with K. Dimopoulou). His main research activities in the Centre for the Greek Language are engaged in issues of literary translation, Modern Greek literary criticism and the teaching of literature. He has designed and developed programs for the digital support of research and the study of Modern Greek literature, as well as, for the teaching of literature through the exploitation of the New Technologies. He was teaching Modern Greek literature as a research associate at the School of Greek Philology, Democritus University of Thrace, for four academic years (2008-2012). Also, he has been teaching in graduate and postgraduate courses, concerning translation, literary translation, text editing, and the teaching of literature, at the Faculty of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, since the academic year 2012-2013.

Anthoula Chartofilli
Anthoula ChartofilliAnthoula Hartofillis was born and raised in Canberra, Australia. Upon completing her secondary education she began her tertiary studies in the field of early childhood education. Anthoula relocated to Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2002. She continued her studies at Aristotle University, earning a BA Honours degree in English Literature and Language in 2008, and a Master’s degree in English Literature and Culture in 2012. She is currently working on her PhD dissertation whose focus is on representations of the nation in early Australian film. Anthoula has been teaching English since 2002 to students of all ages and levels. She has been writing and delivering speeches for the ΜΑ in Conference interpreting and Translation programme since 2015.

Chiara Del Rio
Chiara Del RioI was born in Naples (Italy), where I completed my undergraduate studies in 1988 at the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University “Federico II” of Naples. In 1990 I received my Postgraduate Degree Diploma (DEA) at the University of Paris-I-Sorbonne in France. Following this I signed a three-year contract in a Secondary Education School in Dijon (France) where I taught Italian language as a foreign language / being a native speaker. After passing successfully the Italian public state teaching competition, I was assigned a teaching position in primary school in 1996 in Italy, where I worked for four years (1996-2000). Coming to Thessaloniki in 2000, I taught in private foreign language schools, until I started my PhD in Foreign Language Teaching at AUTh (http://ikee.lib.auth.gr/record/128528) which I received in 2011 (rating: Excellent). Simultaneously, I was in charge of the course of “Italian Language B1-B2” for undergraduate classes of the AUTh Italian Department (2007-2013) and then I collaborated in teaching contracts (PD 407) and project contracts with the AUTh (2013-2018). From 2019 until today, I have been assigned by the AUTh to teach the course “Development of Language Skills 1 for the Italian Language” and “Native speaker of Italian Language in Interpretation Classes” in the MA Conference Interpretation and Translation.

Iro Eleftheriadou
Iro EleftheriadouIro Eleftheriadou is a graduate of the Department of German Language and Literature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a European Masters in Conference Interpreting from the same institution. Since 2012 and after her accreditation by the European Institutions, she has been working as a freelance interpreter at the European Parliament, European Commission and Council with the language combination of German and English into Greek. From 2008 until 2017, she taught German as a foreign language in public schools. She was an interpreter trainer on the MA in Conference Interpreting during the academic years 2013-14 and 2014-15 and is currently teaching the English interpretation course. In 2019, she earned an MA in Digital Media, Communication and Journalism from the Department of Journalism and Mass Media of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with her thesis focusing on social media as a platform for advocacy and activism. Copywriting and digital content creation are among her newly acquired skills and interests.

Claudia Ignatiadou-Schein
Claudia Ignatiadou-ScheinClaudia Ignatiadou-Schein studied Translation and Interpretation at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, Austria. She has many years of professional experience in language education for adults and translation in multilingual contexts, focusing on the languages Greek, German, Spanish and English. She has been conducting German courses and has been working as a certified examiner at the Goethe-Institut for all examination levels (CEFR). In 2019 she joined the educational staff of the postgraduate program Conference Interpreting and Translation of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. As such, she has been in the role of the Native Speaker of German in the course Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpreting, while also leading the course Development of Language Skills for German.

Christopher Lees
Christopher LeesChristopher Lees graduated with a BA in Modern Languages (Greek, German, French) from the University of Birmingham, UK. Subsequently, he moved to Greece, in order to pursue postgraduate studies, graduating with a MA in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from the University of Athens (Sylff fellowship) and a PhD in Sociolinguistics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (IKY scholarship). His research interests focus on language and society, with a particular emphasis on language variety, digital language communication, (Critical) Discourse Analysis, and sociolinguistic approaches to translation. Christopher is currently carrying out postdoctoral research (IKY scholarship) at the School of English on the “translation landscape” of Thessaloniki. His research examines translated texts in the city’s public spaces from an inter-disciplinarary perspective, which combines Sociolinguistics and Translation Studies. Aside from his academic interests, Christopher is a certified translator and holds the Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists. He teaches translation (Greek into English) on the MA in Translation course, as well as English language enhancement on the MA in Conference Interpreting course, for which he is also a speaker in English.

Émilie Lehr
Émilie LehrI am a French language teacher, teacher trainer and media-based materials writer, specialised in the use of Media and video in language learning, and in media literacy. In association with the television network TV5MONDE, I develop teaching and learning multimedia resources based on its programs (reports, TV shows, short films, etc.). I train all actors engaging in French Language Teaching in France and in many countries around the world. I also works toward the development of the TV5MONDE teacher experts network throughout the world. Alongside these activities, I teach at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the MA in Conference interpreting. Ricardo Ferrer Serrano
Ricardo Ferrer SerranoRicardo Ferrer Serrano graduated from the University of Granada with a Bachelor´s Degree in Philosophy and Pedagogy and from UNED (Madrid, Spain) with a Bachelor´s Degree in Hispanic Philology. In addition, he received his Master´s from Antonio de Nebrija University (Madrid) in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. He has been teaching Spanish in Thessaloniki since 2000. He is a certified examiner for Cervantes Institute and the State Certificate of Language Proficiency. At the same time, he collaborates with businesses of Thessaloniki as an interpreter and since 2021 he is a teacher in the MA Program in Interpretation of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where he teaches Enhancement of interpreting skills in Spanish. Concurrently, he is the native speaker of Spanish in the course Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpreting 1, Spanish to Greek.

Christina Siamidou
Christina SiamidouChristina Siamidou is an interpreter for the English and French languages. She is working freelance based in Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a graduate of the Department of Clinical Psychology of the “Lumière Lyon II” School, in Lyon, France. She also holds a Specialized master’s degree (DESS) from the ESIT Interpreting Section of the Nouvelle Sorbonne University in Paris, France. Since 2013 she has been serving as trainer at The Joint Postgraduate Studies programme (J.P.P.S.) “Conference Interpreting and Translation” of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, teaching Interpretation for the French Language and also as an academic assistant in the programme. She is a member of the Hellenic Association of Conference Interpreters (SYDISE).

Chrisi Sidiropoulou
Chrisi SidiropoulouChrysi Sidiropoulou graduated from the School of English Language and Literature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1990 (as a state scholarship holder, IKY). In 1994 she earned her D.E.S.S. in Professional Translation from the University of Strasbourg (with a French Institute/British Council scholarship). Since 1995, she has been working as a Thessaloniki-based freelance translator and interpreter. In 2002 she successfully sat the accreditation test of DG Interpretation of the European Commission for auxiliary conference interpreters (ACIs) with the linguistic combination of English, French and Spanish into Greek and Greek into English. In 2010 she attended DG Interpretation’s Training for Trainers Seminar. From 2009 onwards, she has been one of the interpreter trainers of the MA in Conference Interpreting Program as an external associate. She is a member of the Panhellenic Association of Translators (PEM).

Μaria Thoidou
Μaria ThoidouΜaria Thoidou has completed her studies in Classical Singing (Musical Academy of Cologne and Leipzig) and in Education (School of Early Childhood Education (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). As a performer and song writer, she has given concerts both in Greece and abroad, released a number of music CDs and she has collaborated with several established musicians, participating in concerts and recordings. She has systematically been involved on working with the aim of promotion free vocal expression. In this context, she has been working in the University of Thessaly since 2005, as specialized educator in vocal and musical performance. She is head of the Musical Ensembles of the University of Thessaly and she is also the artistic director of the Music Festival Pau (University of Thessaly). As a vocal and musical instructor, she has collaborated with the Department of Music Science and Art (University of Macedonia) and the School of Drama (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).

Yiorgos Andreou
Yiorgos AndreouYiorgos Andreou studied political science and international relations at the University of Athens and at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and received his PhD in political science and public administration from the University of Athens (2001). He has worked as adjunct lecturer at the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Department of Political Science of the University of Crete and the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of the Peloponnese. He has also taught at the Postgraduate Programme ‘European and International Studies’ of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, University of Athens and at the National School of Public Administration as well as at the School of Political Sciences, Aristotle University. His research interests include the policies of the European Union and cohesion policy (regional/structural policy) in particular, the Europeanisation of public policies in the EU and the relations between Greece and the EU. He has published The New Cohesion Policy of the EU and Greece with P. Liargovas (Papazisis, Athens 2007) and various articles in Greek and international academic journals; he has also contributed to several collective volumes (in Greek and English). He edited the special issue of the Greek Political Science Review, Institutions, Public policies and Reforms in Greece (vol. 40, July 2013) and co-edited the book Cohesion Policy and Multi-level Governance in South East Europe (Routledge, Οxon 2011).

Yiorgos Dourakis
Yiorgos DourakisYiorgos Dourakis was born in 1954. He graduated from the Anatolia College and studied economics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He conducted postgraduate studies at the School of Economics of the same university, from where he also received his doctorate. He has worked at the Democritus University of Thrace, the University of Macedonia and University of Thessaly, before taking up his position at the School of Political Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in 2006. He was first elected assistant professor and has since been promoted to associate professor in political economy. His research encompasses the political economy of innovation, new technologies and institutions, as well as international political economy. His recent publications include: Digital Technology and Economic Dynamics: The Paradox of Productivity and Economic Liberalism (Papazisis, Athens 2004) and New Forms of Organisation: The Disputed Dynamics of Industrial Capitalism at the end of the 20th and the Beginning of the 21st Century (Papazisis, Athens 2005), and Distribution of Income and Productivity as Social Balance of Power (Thyrathen, Thessaloniki 2012).
